About Amy
What Sets Me Apart
Amy is a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with 7 years of experience in home educating her own children with varied special educational needs. This allows her to not only understand the home education system but the children within it. She is passionate, caring, and committed to providing the best possible education for your child.
Amy holds an enhanced DBS check and has completed NSPCC Safeguarding courses. She has also attended various SEN courses such as Tic Toolkit for Tourette's, run by Evelina Children's Hospital, London, Early Bird Plus course for Autism and Newbold Hope courses for PDA, Challenging Behaviour and Communication. She is also proud to be a parent governor for a local alternative provision specialising in children with a range of SEN.

At SENshine Tutoring, I provide affordable pre-recorded online ASDAN short courses . Whether your child prefers to study Animal Care, Science, Gardening, or Environmental studies, I am here to assist them in their learning journey. Each course includes :

20 pre-recorded online lessons allowing your child to learn in their own time. Each online session is supported by challenges and work to complete via PDF lesson supports and is estimated to take approximately a week to complete, depending on each learner's rate of progression. There are no time limits on the course.

Full access to ASDAN e portfolio where assignments are marked, work is uploaded and your child's progress is monitored

Animal Care Short Course

The ASDAN Animal Care Short Course is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to care for animals. This online pre-recorded course consists of over 20 engaging lessons that cover a wide range of topics related to animal care. Each lesson is supported by challenges and investigations designed to take approximately one week to complete depending on the learner's individual rate of progression. There is no time limit on the course. Students will have full access to all PowerPoint slides used in the course, as well as additional lesson resources to enhance their learning. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to join weekly online group Zoom trouble shooting sessions, where they can ask questions and receive additional support. Upon completion of the course, students will receive full moderation and assessment, and an ASDAN certification to showcase their achievement. This course is the perfect opportunity to expand your knowledge and understanding of animal care.

This online pre-recorded course consists of over 20 engaging lessons that cover a wide range of topics related to science. Each lesson will take approximately a week to complete depending on learners rate of progression. There is no time limit on the course. Students will have full access to all PowerPoint slides used in the course, as well as additional lesson resources to enhance their learning. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to join weekly online group Zoom trouble shooting sessions, where they can ask questions and receive additional support. Upon completion of the course, students will receive full moderation and assessment, and an ASDAN certification to showcase their achievement.

This online prerecorded course consists of 20 engaging lessons that cover a wide range of topics related to gardening . Each lesson is designed to take approximately one week to complete, depending on learner's rate of progression. There is no time limit on the course. Students will have full access to all powerpoint slides used in the course, as well as additional lesson resources to enhance their learning. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to join weekly online group Zoom trouble shooting sessions, where they can ask questions and receive additional support. Upon completion of the course, students will receive full moderation and assessment, and an ASDAN certification to showcase their achievement. This course is the perfect opportunity to expand your knowledge and understanding of gardening.

NB Due to the practical nature of this course access to basic gardening resources will be required.
Environmental Short Course

Enrolling now for September 2024, our ASDAN Environmental Short Course is a comprehensive program developed in partnership with The Wildlife Trust. The course covers aspects ranging from investigating our atmosphere to learning how to conserve wildlife and fosters knowlegde and love of the natural world. This online prerecorded course consists of 20 engaging lessons that cover a wide range of topics related to animal care. Each lesson will take approximately a week to complete, depending on learner's speed. There is no time limit on the course. Students will have full access to all powerpoint slides used in the course, as well as additional lesson resources to enhance their learning. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to join weekly online group Zoom trouble shooting sessions, where they can ask questions and receive additional support. Upon completion of the course, students will receive full moderation and assessment, and an ASDAN certification to showcase their achievement.

What are the term dates for the courses ?
The courses are designed to be worked through at the learner's own individual pace making it a stress free experience. However, during the holiday dates I will be unavailable for the weekly online Zoom class, assessment and moderation.

Does my child have to attend the weekly group Zoom Session?
No! Not at all! I understand that every student is unique and will vary in their ability to attend group sessions. I am always on the end of the phone or available via email to chat through any issues. I am also very happy to arrange individual Zoom sessions.
How long will each course take to complete ?
This will vary hugely on each learner. There is no time limit - every young person will have full access to the course and full support for as long as they need it. As an average rule, each lesson is designed to be completed over a week, with some independent learning at home but this is very flexible. A course is estimated to take each learner roughly 5-6 months to complete.
How are the courses assessed ?
Each course is portfolio based and you will have full access to your child's e portfolio to view work set and completed. Courses are internally moderated and assessed by coursework. Each learner will be supported fully to help them achieve to their full capability
